CaptiqueTM is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that was first approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 2004. Captique injections can be administered to fill moderate folds and wrinkles around the eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks, jawline, and forehead. It is commonly injected into the areas between the eyebrows and vertical lip lines.

When injected to fill deep folds and winkles of the face, Captique can improve facial contours and create an overall rejuvenated appearance. The treatment takes less than one hour, and results can last 4-6 months. Most patients are able to resume normal activities within 1 to 2 hours of receiving Captique injections. Although redness, swelling, itching, or minor pain are common side effects of this procedure, the use of icepacks can help expedite healing. Captique injections are not recommended for those who have hypertrophic scarring, skin pigmentation disorders, or susceptibility to keloid formation.

Hyaluronic Acid
Like collagen, hyaluronic acid (HA) is comprised of all living cells and occurs naturally in the body, thus eliminating the need for skin allergy tests prior to injection. It is a sugar molecule that attracts and binds water, hydrating the skin where it is injected and increasing volume. Hyaluronic acid is a filler that provides immediate volume enhancement results, whether it is used to fill wrinkles and folds or to plump up lips. HA dermal fillers are indicated for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Many people prefer a hyaluronic acid product over collagen because it is softer and tends to be longer lasting.

Restylane, Juvèderm, and Captique are different products that are classified as hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. The injection process takes 15-30 minutes and results are immediate, with little or no recovery and downtime. If you have an important event, it is recommended that you schedule treatment one week or so prior to ensure that there is no remaining redness or swelling.
