We know that every patient’s body is different and not everyone is plagued by large volumes of excess skin in the abdominal region. Patients who have a small amount of loose skin or minimal abdominal muscle separation may benefit from a partial or mini tummy tuck. This is common for patients who have a minimal amount of sagging skin that is not capable of shrinking back around the frame due to a loss of skin laxity. Reducing the appearance of small amounts of excess skin may only require this minimally invasive body contouring technique.
Mini Tummy Tuck Incisions
Like any other cosmetic surgery, incisions are made in order to reshape the body, but with a mini tummy tuck a patient may only require one incision. This incision is typically made along the curve of the lower abdomen, slightly above the pubic region, which makes it simple to hide surgical scarring under bikinis or underwear. Once the patient is asleep under general anesthesia, Dr. Chiu can make the incision to remove the small amounts of excess skin and adipose tissue. In some instances, liposuction can be used in conjunction to mini tummy tuck surgery to remove stubborn fat and enhance the entire abdominal region.
Mini Tummy Tuck Candidates
Ideally, mini tummy tuck candidates are patients who have small amounts of loose abdominal skin that require surgical removal to improve the overall abdominal region. A consultation with your plastic surgeon will evaluate the entire stomach and determine if minimal amounts of fatty tissue and loose skin is confined to the lower abdominal region. Ideal patients will have good muscle tone of the abdominal muscles and be in good overall health.
