Modified Abdominoplasty

Modified Abdominoplasty Beverly Hills

In every patient there lies a certain amount of adipose tissue (fatty tissue) in the abdominal cavity. In many instances, a patient’s midsection struggles to retain a normal contour due to weight fluctuations, childbirth or hereditary deformities that cannot be held to a slim shape without the use of surgical correction. More often than not, men and women possess muscle laxity along with limited amounts of excess abdominal skin in the lower abdominal region; meaning their abdominal muscles have been outstretched and will not come back together without surgical assistance. Much like a mini tummy tuck, the modified abdominoplasty involves altering mild to moderate skin laxity and muscle weakness, which may or may not include removal of the belly button but can be moved down to enhance its appearance.

Modified Abdominoplasty Incisions

The surgical incisions made will be very few or made as a single incision just above the pubic area. Since this incision is smaller than the larger incision made in a full tummy tuck, the patient can recover in a shorter period.

Modified Abdominoplasty Candidates

Typically patients with limited or small amounts of excess abdominal skin in the lower region of the stomach, they may be considered candidates for modified abdominoplasty. In order for modified abdominoplasty to be a success patient prerequisites include:

  • Patient is medically and psychologically healthy
  • Patient is a non-smoker
  • Patient is at ideal weight or close to their weight goal (within 15 pounds)

The only alterations required during surgery are lightly tightening the muscles, removing small amounts of excess skin and repositioning the navel to a natural position.
