Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery, also known as “abdominoplasty,” improves the contours of the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat and tightening the abdominal muscles. The midsection is one of the most difficult areas to target with diet and exercise alone, and this procedure gives patients the confidence and comfort that comes with a flatter and more attractive abdominal appearance.

Thinking About
Having Tummy Tuck?

Remove Excess Fat For A Slender Midsection

Tummy tuck surgery removes excess, stubborn fat to produce a slender and flatter midsection. Patients no longer have to worry about their “muffin top” or “belly bulge” making an appearance without their consent.

Tighten Stretched Muscles For More Toned Abdominals

The abdominal muscles stretch to make room in the belly, such as for accommodating a baby during pregnancy or fat from weight gained. When the weight is lost or the baby is delivered, the abdominal muscles do not always return together. With an abdominoplasty, Dr. Chiu tightens the abdominal muscles using a suturing technique that produces firmer, more toned abdominals.

Eliminate Loose, Hanging Skin For Improved Mobility

No amount of dieting and exercise can tighten significantly stretched skin. Many patients who have experienced extreme weight loss or gone through pregnancy have permanently stretched skin that gets in the way of their daily activities. In addition, those with loose, hanging skin have the potential to develop rashes and sores. As a result, excess skin may deter these people from engaging in exercise or sports, social gatherings, and even family events.

Remove Stretch Marks on the Lower Abdomen For Increased Confidence

Stretch marks are an annoyance that the majority of women, and even some men, know all too well. Stretch marks on the lower abdomen can be removed if they are located on the excess skin that is trimmed away, giving you beautiful, healthy-looking skin about which you can feel confident.

Types of Tummy Tucks

Dr. Chiu will evaluate your natural body type and discuss the best options to achieve your tummy tuck goals.

Tummy Tuck Recovery

As with all surgical procedures, there is a recovery process after tummy tuck surgery to ensure you heal properly and can safely and fully enjoy your new and improved body contours.

Immediately After

The treated area will be bandaged and wrapped with a compression garment. Pain medication and muscle relaxers will be prescribed to ease any swelling and discomfort. Our Recovery Protocol, which includes supplements, vitamins, and anti-bruising medications, will begin.

1 Week

Patients are usually able to return to work and perform light activities. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting. Swelling and bruising will begin to resolve.

2 Weeks

Continued resolution of swelling and bruising. Light physical activities and massages will be recommended by Dr. Chiu. Patients should continue to avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting.

4 to 6 Weeks

Results will be more apparent. Patients may return to their normal activities, including strenuous exercise and lifting, once cleared by Dr. Chiu.

6 Months

All residual swelling will have resolved, and final results will be apparent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of anesthesia is used during the surgery?

Dr. Chiu performs tummy tuck surgery with the patient under general anesthesia and supervised by a board-certified anesthesiologist to ensure the highest degree of patient safety.

Why choose Dr. Chiu for tummy tuck surgery?

Dr. Chiu has significant skill and experience performing tummy tuck surgery, and he offers a completely customized procedure to meet your individual needs. With an eye for current fashion trends, Dr. Chiu aims to give you natural-looking results, like an almond-shaped belly button with natural hooding and shorter, bikini-level incisions without “dog ears.”

What other procedures can be combined with tummy tuck surgery?

Liposuction is generally used to remove fat during tummy tuck surgery, and patients often choose to have liposuction performed on other areas of the body as well, such as the back, hips, and thighs. Tummy tuck surgery is also commonly combined with breast augmentation or breast lift surgery in a procedure known as the Mommy Makeover to rejuvenate a woman’s body after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Are the results of tummy tuck surgery permanent?

As long as the patient maintains a healthy lifestyle and does not gain a large amount of weight, the new contours of the abdomen will be long lasting. Patients should be aware that no procedure can stop the aging process, and the midsection will continue to age naturally over time.
