Oscars 2009 GBK Suite

And the Oscar for the ‘most fabulous’ goes to…..

I would have to say we were in the running!!!  The GBK Oscars gifting suite was quite the star studded affair, with themed gifting rooms for each of the nominated pictures.  There were also delicious cakes made with photos of all the movie stills superimposed in frosting to celebrate the five most important films of the year.

Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery, Inc. held court in ‘The Reader’ room, where a bathtub of books symbolized the powerful movie – each room had décor to bring the feel of each nominated film.  Celebrities were formally introduced to us, and we chatted about all sorts of beauty tips and experiences.  BHPS has the important and honorable role in keeping our celebs looking like true movie stars all year long!!!  I was excited to meet many movie and television stars as they poured into the ultra chic SLS hotel on La Cienega Avenue.  The day started with everyone buzzing about the guest list.

Who was there?  You ask.  Let’s just say that Slumdog Millionaire made its presence known there as well as nabbing a ton of awards the following day.  Many nominated artists also made the rounds as well as presenters who were former Oscar winners themselves.   Did I see actors from Benjamin Button, MILK, Mama Mia, Love Guru, Transporter 2, Frost/Nixon?  I’d have to tell you the answer was yes.  Future movie stars from the upcoming movies GI Joe, Last House on the Left and Star Trek?  Yup.   Television actors also were present from some of your favorite shows, Lost, Entourage, Dexter, Knight Rider, Laguna Beach, Brotherhood, Damages, The Shield, Desperate Housewives, 30 Rock, CSI, NipTuck, Priviledged, Heros and Californication.

Was I nervous?  You can imagine my secret deodorant was getting a workout.  I managed to deliver our BHPS welcome and gift easily enough, which surprised even myself!  I think the reason is that everyone I met was very kind and very natural.  I even got my picture taken with a few.  Let’s just say that I left my autograph book at home, because the last thing I would want to do was act like an overactive teenager with stars in her eyes . . . on the outside that is.

Next day watching the Oscars, I recognized so many of the faces from the GBK gifting suite I had to ask myself ‘did that really happen?’ again.  I’m now making a point of seeing all the nominated movies I might not have gotten a chance to see yet just to catch up.  My TIVO has been programmed up to capacity to catch all the hot TV shows.  Next year, I’ll be more ready…..

Of course I’ll have my secret deodorant and autograph book on hand just in case!
